Promoting Community Events & Activities

With increasing pressure for Municipalities to organize, support and sponsor events, staff and volunteers take on a huge role in the community, organizing and executing feel good, life-style events. In Canada, one in four people volunteer their time and effort towards the improvement of their community and their country. It is estimated that the contribution of volunteers to the Canadian economy and the welfare of it's citizens has a value over 100 billion dollars annually. At a local level, communities have innumerable volunteer groups working towards the betterment of the community in which they live.

There are many great ideas for the enrichment of our communities in place, but sadly, as is common in volunteer organizations, there are too few people to execute the many projects. Organized events and activities are often affected by the lack of marketing, advertising, website and promotional design exposure. Not all volunteers may have the necessary skills to adequately promote their events, or the time to take them to the next logical level.

Both small and big 'T' tourism events require a unique and targetted marketing and advertising approach best served by a professional community resource cooordinator working in a team environment with municipal staff, volunteers, businesses and tourism stakeholders.

Event & Resource Coordinator

Andrea Kollo has years of experience enhancing existing projects and identifying, organizing and managing new opportunities, coordinating and managing programs and tourism campaigns. She sits on committees and works directly with Municipal Staff, Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Officers and event / tourism stakeholders to organize and execute community events and tourism campaigns.

Andrea will work with stakeholders to:

1)    Coordinate Municipal and Volunteer organized events
2)    Identify new opportunities
3)    Negotiate agreements with people and organizations
4)    Build event specific website(s)
5)    Provide marketing and promotional services and support
6)    Develop, maintain, and publicize a schedule of programs
7)    Coordinate and monitor programs and activities
8)    Implement and maintain a process
9)    Facilitate ongoing communication
10)  Evaluate and make recommendations of programs
