Community, Place & Pride

Community and community identity are fluid, dynamic concepts that are constantly in the process of being produced and transformed. For a community to creatively accept, and successfully adapt to the times in which they live, it must first be well grounded in the understanding of who and what it is. Only by knowing this can we move forward, respecting and honouring the essence and soul of the community.

As globalization becomes more of a reality, so does migration to the northern municipalities. Smaller well established communities are being faced with new challenges to not only change with the times, but integrate and bring to life a multitude of community feel good, lifestyle related events and activities. At the same time more pressure is brought to bear to structure and enhance events to attract tourists / vistors and generate tourism dollars as a viable financial alternative for local economic development.

Andrea Kollo has 30+ years of corporate business and marketing experience. In the past several years she has turned her focus to helping communities promote and market themselves by defining their needs, implementing marketing and promotional tools, and coordinating resident and tourism focused events and activities.
